On Thursday, March 14, 2024, the Spanish Honor Society had their formal ceremony. As the students went onstage and lit their candles, Profe Makarena Rosh told the audience how much effort the students have put into their work over the years. Students were given roles in what they could bring to share with their colleagues, so that they can be more involved with the culture and share their favorite dish. Aeleen Gutierrez brought pupusas that are originally from El Salvador. Guiterrez said they bring her “back to her hometown as well as a reminder of good times.” This translates to, “As a member of the Warhill Lions Chapter of Warhill High School, I promise to use the Spanish language in order to master the language one day, to enhance and promote friendship between people from other countries and those from our country. Spanish can be a strong bond between people of different races or religions. As a citizen of my country, and a member of the Society, I promise to help my community and my school. This is my promise and oath.’’ After the ceremony ended, attendants ate various cuisines from all over the world.
