There are numerous opportunities to stay after school at Warhill, all of which have different benefits and reasons to do so. Whether the reason is to stay after for tutoring or to hang out with the school’s clubs, Warhill has plenty to offer. Ms. Pickett explained the reasons to stay after school, “Getting extra help, being in clubs and being more engaged in the school.”
A core reason students should take the opportunity to stay after school is for tutoring in subjects in which they may struggle. Teachers offer many opportunities for students to receive extra help. If it is a school subject that already has a club specifically designed to help students with that class (such as Science and Math), those classes have specific days that they meet every week to assist students. “If you are struggling and need help in Math [we offer tutoring on] Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in the Media Center.” Students can always ask their teachers. “I would recommend that students who wish to get extra help ask their teacher when they could stay,” Ms. Pickett, a science teacher said.
The other big reason students could stay after involves after-school clubs and extracurricular activities. “We have a lot of clubs, a lot of extracurriculars. I have Chess Club on Wednesdays. There is Key Club, along with so many other extracurriculars,” Ms. Pickett informed. This allows students to explore different interests and even find and interact with others that have common interests.
If interested in joining an extracurricular activity, go to the Warhill Website and find the ‘Our School’ drop down menu. There, one will find clubs, sports and extracurricular activities.
